In the world we currently live in, it is hard to remember to practice self-care. Americans live busy lives; running out the door to get the kids to school, making sure to get to work on time, rushing home to beat traffic and make dinner before going to bed and doing it all over again. During all of this, people tend to forget to slow down and take care of themselves.
September is Self-Care Awareness Month and serves as a reminder that practicing self-care is essential. Practicing self-care is much simpler than most people think. While going on a vacation to a tropical island is a great example, self-care can be as easy as enjoying a cup of coffee on the porch, taking a bubble bath, going on a walk around the neighborhood, or speaking up and saying “no”. Each person is unique and their needs for self-care will differ, so remember to practice what is best for you. Neglecting this need can lead to burn-out, physical illness, and/or damage to relationships.
If you do not already practice self-care on a daily basis, use this month to start making it a habit. Do one thing every day for yourself. Follow us on Instagram (@livinghopecounselingcenter) and tag us in your photos so we can see how you practice self-care!!
Below is a list of ideas to choose from, but the list is things you can do is endless!
